Art McDermott, CSCS, USAW

 

Art is owner of Matrix Strength & Fitness, a private training center specializing in personal training, nutrition, fitness transformations and sports preparation. Art has been involved with strength sports for over 25 years.  During that time, he has participated in over 23 National and World Championships in three different sports, as well as 2 Olympic Track & Field Trials. 

Among his accomplishments are:

 

·                     Adjunct Professor – University of Massachusetts, Lowell.  Department of Health and Environment.  Presently teaching “Exercise Prescription and Program Design”

·                     National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification.  Originally certified in the first exam in 1985

·                     USA Weightlifting certification

·                     4 Time NCAA All-American in Track & Field and a member of several US International Teams

·                     New England All-Time record holder for both the shot put and discus

·                     Speaker at the 2005 NSCA National Convention

 

 

Art has authored multiple articles on various strength-related topics, having written for Milo Magazine, Powerlifting USA, the NSCA Strength and Conditioning Journal, Pure Power Magazine.  Art recently co-authored the first science-based research on modified strongman training methods with low back expert Professor Stu McGill, Waterloo University, Canada to be published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research.  He has also co-authored book “Applied Strongman Training for Sport” with world-renowned strength coach Charles Poliquin.

 

DIRECTIONS TO MATRIX

From Route 93.  North or South.  Take exit 41 (Route 125) and go toward Andover/Merrimack College. 

 

Exactly 4 miles along Rt 125 (use the mile markers) there is a crossroad.  This is Wildwood Road.

 

Take a left onto Wildwood and an IMMEDIATE right into my driveway.  The driveway is about 20 feet off Route 125. 

 

There is a white Address Post at the head of the driveway.  68 Wildwood Road.

 

Please park on the lawn along the RIGHT side of the small turn around driveway ½ way down the driveway. 

 

From Merrimack College area.  Take Route 125 toward Route 93.  Approx 1 mile past the Lukoil Gas Station, take a right onto Wildwood.

 

You must make a HAIRPIN turn into the library.
